Conor Mcgregor calls for Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch in the aftermath of UFC 242

AT UFC 242 on Saturday evening Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defended his lightweight belt after defeating Dustin Poirier via submission with a rear naked choke in Abu Dhabi.

While the dust was settling on a thrilling fight eyes eventually turned to who will be up next for the Russian fighter for his third title defence.

Conor Mcgregor took to Twitter to send an announcement to the UFC he wants a rematch, tweeting “Book my rematch for Moscow”

In the post fight press conference both Nurmagomedov and White indicated the next challenger will be Tony Ferguson the current #2 in the official UFC lightweight rankings.

It appears Ferguson is in pole position to challenge for the title next but with McGregors fan base bring a huge number of Pay per views will the UFC be tempted to cash in on the money fight? Only time will tell.

Tony Ferguson is the first UFC fighter to popularise the use of the Hong Kongese martial art, Wing Chun in the Octagon.

Robert Downey Jnr has used wing chun to help stave off his more dubious predilections.

But the art of Wing Chun was first popularised in Hollywood by the late great Bruce Lee.

Many have been disturbed by how Bruce was represented as being ‘all talk’ in the late Tarantino flick, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Tarantino defended his depiction saying at a press conference in Moscow that, ““Bruce Lee was kind of an arrogant guy.

“The way he was talking, I didn’t just make a lot of that up.

“I heard him say things like that, to that effect.

“If people are saying, ‘Well he never said he could beat up Muhammad Ali,’ well yeah, he did.

Not only did he say that, but his wife, Linda Lee, said that in her first biography I ever read.

She absolutely said that.”

But many fans of Bruce Lee thought he would have floored Brad Pitt’s character in real life and it was an unfair denigration of the legendary martial artist.

  1. Khabib Nurmagomedov is fighting with passion. He has great low-kicks and good right straight. Definitely is the best UFC fighter and I’m sure he will prove it very soon.
