DONALD TRUMP has made fresh hints that Iran are responsible for the drone and cruise missile attack on Saudi oil facilities Abqaiq, the world’s largest plant and the Khurais oil field.
Donald Trump tweeted on Monday: Today Donald Trump tweeted: “Remember when Iran shot down a drone, saying knowingly that it was in their “airspace” when, in fact, it was nowhere close.
“They stuck strongly to that story knowing that it was a very big lie.
“Now they say that they had nothing to do with the attack on Saudi Arabia.
“We’ll see?”
When Donald Trump was asked about his of who was to blame, he appeared to back Mike Pompeo’s declaration that Iran were behind the attacks and that, “There is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen (Houthi rebels).”
At a White House press conference on the same day as Mr Trump left for New Mexico the US President referred to Mr Pompeo’s statement he said: “I think we’re the same.
“I think we just want to find out the final numbers and see.
“You look at a vector, and you look at… there are lots of different things we can look at… and we’ll know for certain over the next very short period of time.”
And once everything is analyzed, he said, “Well then we’re gonna decide what sort of response there would be.
When Trump was asked if there would be a military response to the attacks he answered the question with a question, saying, “Would this be proportionate, is that what you’re asking.
“I would say, ‘yes.'”
The scale of the attacks would suggest that with the planning and equipment involved it was Iran based.
Before, Houthi rebels have only attacked oil pipelines, but this attack hit the world’s biggest oil-processing plant and another oil field.
The world’s biggest oil processing facility is called Abqaiq and is run by the Saudi state oil company, Aramco.
The second oil field struck was the Khurais oilfield.
The closest of the targets to the Yemeni border was the Khurais oilfield, but still a considerable distance to launch a pre-dawn drone and cruise missile strike, at nearly 500miles
distance.
The technology involved here was very advanced.
There were nineteen strike points during the attack across two locations.
